Our Starting Point
Founded in 1998, The Point Breeze Youth Development Basketball League is a
community-based delinquency prevention program primarily for inner-city student athletes.
The games are hosted at Chew Playground, 19th Street and Washington Avenue, the
games begin in July and run through August.
Our basketball program teaches social and life skills development and we provide support
counseling. The Point Breeze Youth Development Basketball League uses the influence of
the sport of basketball as a bait to keep inner-city youth motivated during the summer
months. By targeting adolescent males between the ages of 12-19, the Point Breeze Youth
Development Basketball League has produced positive role models. By providing a positive
structured activity along with counseling, we have successfully been influential in assisting
our youth in seeking a higher education. Additionally, we have had some participants who
now play professional basketball.
